Hiring a magician is one of the few decisions where the wrong choice is obvious within five minutes. A close-up act that is brilliant in someone's hands can disappear in a room of 300, and a stage illusionist is wasted at a cocktail party where nobody sits down. We have been booking magicians into Sydney rooms since 2003, and most of the job is matching the right kind of magic to the right kind of night.
Every magician on the roster has been watched work a real room, carries public liability insurance, and comes with the paperwork your venue or finance team will want. Tell us the event and we will tell you which style fits.
Want magic that moves through the crowd? Roving close-up magic is the most booked format on this page.
See roving entertainment →"Magician" covers half a dozen different jobs. These are the ones we book most often in Sydney, and the rooms each one suits.
The Sydney roster runs from close-up specialists to full stage illusion, and the acts below are the ones that come up most when a client tells us the room. Phoenix, "The Mind Guy" is our most requested roving act, a mentalist and magician, and the most booked act on our roster. The Gentleman Magician is a Magic Circle member whose close-up suits a formal dinner or a client hospitality night. Liam Power and Brendan Mon Tanner both carry television credits and work equally well roving or on a stage. For a comedy spot after dinner, Adam Axford builds a set around the room he is in. For stage illusion in a larger room, Sam Powers and The Rock Star Illusionist bring the production. Tony Finch, Adam Dean, Zarbo Magic and Harry Zucchini round out the Sydney close-up roster. None of this replaces telling us about the event, because the right act for your room depends on the room.
Most of the magicians on the roster are based in Sydney, which keeps travel costs down and availability easier to confirm. For interstate events we book from the local roster where it fits and bring an act in where it does not, with travel quoted up front. In Melbourne that includes Nick Kay, Nicholas J. Johnson, Josh Staley, Jo Clyne and Richard Vegas. In Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast, Dave Lord, Josh Norbido, Max Allan, Glen Rhodes and Sam Gordon. Pierre Ulric covers Perth and Matt Tarrant covers Adelaide. The booking process does not change with the state.

It depends on the format, how long the act performs, the date and any travel. A roving magician working a two hour cocktail period is priced differently to a full stage show with props and sound. Tell us the event and the budget, which stays with us, and the shortlist we send back comes with quotes attached.
Close-up magic happens in your guests' hands, table to table or group to group, and suits drinks receptions, dinners and any event where people are standing and mingling. Stage magic is a set piece for a seated room with everyone facing one way, from a twenty minute spot between courses to a full illusion show. Most Sydney events want the first, and the ones that want the second usually know it already.
A roving magician usually works across the drinks or dinner period in sets of an hour or two, so every table or group gets a visit. A stage show is a fixed spot, typically between twenty and forty five minutes. We confirm the exact length with the act for your run sheet, and we will tell you if the slot you have in mind is too long or too short for the room.
Yes. Some of the magicians on the roster work both corporate rooms and children's parties, and others specialise in kids' shows. Every performer we book for a children's event holds a current Working With Children Check. Tell us the age group and the space and we will recommend the right show length and format.
For roving magic, one performer can realistically reach somewhere between 60 and 100 guests in a typical cocktail hour, depending on the room and how long people stay in one place. For 200 guests over a longer period we usually recommend two roving magicians, or one magician plus a different roving act, so nobody waits an hour to see anything.
Yes. Sydney is where most of the roster is based, but we have magicians in Melbourne, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Adelaide and Perth, and we book all of them through the same process. Where a local act suits the brief we use them; otherwise we bring the right magician in and handle the travel, quoted up front.
Take the finder or tell us about your event - we'll shortlist the right acts and check availability.
