Ms Murphy
Corporate Bands, Tribute Shows
Australia’s most mesmerising soul songstress is back to get everybody grooving to her second sensational EP, Stride. The inimitable Ms Murphy is heading on an East Coast tour in support of the EP and first single “Don’t Let It Go”, and fans can expect the same explosive and soulful performances that propelled her into the finals of The Voice 2013.

The Stride tour will give audiences a rare chance to experience Ms Murphy’s powerhouse vocals backed by a dynamic band, in some of our country’s best live music venues. Three of these dates see Ms Murphy on the exclusive bill to play at Australia’s first ever SoulFest, alongside jazz and hip hop veterans Maxwell, D’Angelo and Common.

Since captivating the nation as a finalist in Ricky Martin’s team, the undeniably talented vocalist has toured both in support of Martin as well as solo, appeared on national TV programs such as Rockwiz and The Today Show, and scored herself a coveted spot on the iTunes Top 10 charts with last year’s EP White Dress and The Spirit. As well as having a sold out national tour in 2014.
For the naturally shy Karen Andrews, it’s been an adjustment. That’s how the moniker ‘Ms Murphy’ came about. It originally was a femme fatale character that soldiers drew on bombs before dropping them. This translates literally in Ms Murphy’s transformation into a world-class knockout performer when on stage.

Like all popular and respected musicians, Ms Murphy has her own league of dedicated fans, affectionately known as The Love Tribe. Their unyielding requests for more from their favourite artist encouraged her throughout the creative process. “These new tracks are hopeful and speak of overcoming times in my life when I have been tried and tested,” Ms Murphy explains. "The lyrics revolve around loss, which I’ve learnt leads us to find out how strong we actually are. Life experiences that are isolating are the very thing that connect us all.”

Perfectly paired with writing partner and ARIA award-winning producer Jan Skubizsewski (Cat Empire, Phrase, ILLY), Ms Murphy has come a long way since starting out as the musical director of her church. Now, after being catapulted into the well-deserved national spotlight, she continues to do what she does best, taking it all in her stride.
