‘The Album Show’ started in early 2020 as an inventive and unique new approach to classic album and legacy artist repertoire presentation. Drawing from his long experience in the Australian Music community over several decades as a musician, producer and industry advocate, Michael Carpenter has been able to draw together an incredible ‘collective’ of some of the most talented musicians and vocalists in the business.

‘The Album Show’ approaches their concept shows less as ‘tribute shows’, and more as a reinvention or reinterpretation of the songs. The regularly heard catchphrase as the shows are developed is “we play the songs, not the records!!”. So you won’t necessarily see wigs and costumes at Album Show shows, but you will always hear some of the most incredible music in history, performed at the highest level by musicians who have a true passion for what they’re doing, operating at the highest level.

Starting off with only two concept shows (‘The Beatles Album Tracks and B Sides’ and ‘Petty Nicks’) playing one off shows at small venues, the last 24 months has seen the concept flourish quickly. We now have over a fifteen shows either working or in development, and have branched off beyond just live performances, to in studio sessions, livestreams and recordings. ‘The Album Show’ is now playing at multiple venues around the Greater Sydney area, and in early 2022 played their first theatre sized shows at venues such as Laycock Theatre, Avoca Beach Theatre and The Show Room at Blacktown Workers Club and Bathurst RSL.
